Gregory Forrest Lester, Inc. May Final Friday Lunch and Learn: A Climb to New Heights

At Gregory Forrest Lester, Inc., we believe in not only working hard but also taking the time to learn, grow, and have a bit of fun together. This May, our Final Friday Lunch and Learn took an adventurous turn as we headed to Gardner Park in Lockland for an exciting climbing experience.

A Day in the Sun

After a month of diligent work and dedication, what better way to unwind than by stepping outside and soaking up the sun? The choice of Gardner Park was perfect, offering a picturesque setting that inspired both relaxation and exhilaration. Surrounded by the park's natural beauty, we were ready to conquer new heights—literally!

Tree Climber Training

Learning to Climb

The City of Lockland provided an excellent opportunity for our team to dive into the world of climbing. Climbing is integral to our operations at Gregory Forrest Lester, Inc., as it is essential for the tree services we provide. However, not all of our team members are trained climbers. This session, led by our experienced lead climbers Brad, Jared, and Josh, gave those who have expressed interest in climbing the chance to learn this vital skill.

Climbing Techniques: Scaling New Heights

Led by Jared, Brad, Josh, and Barry, the session started with the basics and gradually introduced more advanced techniques. The group learned different stances, grips, and maneuvers to maintain balance and navigate climbs effectively. It was both challenging and rewarding to see our team members practice and improve these new skills.

Safety First: Building Trust and Confidence

Safety is paramount in climbing, just as it is in our daily operations. Our lead climbers emphasized the importance of safety measures, teaching the group how to inspect their gear, secure their harnesses, and use safety lines effectively. These lessons were not just about physical safety but also about fostering trust and confidence among our colleagues. Learning to climb safely requires clear communication, mutual respect, and reliance on one another—key components of effective teamwork.

Why Climbing?

Climbing is a fundamental part of our work at Gregory Forrest Lester, Inc. This Lunch and Learn session was an opportunity to enhance our team's skills and provide hands-on training in a controlled environment. Mastering climbing techniques is essential for our operations, and this event allowed interested team members to gain valuable experience and knowledge from our lead climbers.

Reflecting on the Experience

As the day came to an end, we gathered for a picnic lunch, sharing stories of our climbing adventures and laughing about our initial attempts. The experience was more than just learning to climb; it was about camaraderie, building trust, and having fun outside the office. We returned to work with a renewed sense of energy and a deeper connection to our team.

At Gregory Forrest Lester, Inc., we understand that learning doesn’t stop at the office door. Our Final Friday Lunch and Learn at Gardner Park was a testament to our commitment to growth, both professionally and personally. Here’s to many more adventures and the continuous climb to success!

Thank you to the city of Lockland and everyone who made this day possible. We can’t wait to see what next month’s Lunch and Learn has in store for us!
